"Teacher says, every time a bell rings an angel gets his wings."
- Zuzu Bailey - 'It's a Wonderful Life'
So here we are less than three weeks away from Christmas. The usual conversations are being overheard in casual passing, where people are placing themselves on the tinselled scale of ‘nearly there’ to ‘haven’t even started’.
Now I am not a ‘Bah Humbug!’ kind of woman. Bringing family, friends and new faces together, having a qualitive experience and the importance of resting your body over the winter months is something that I encourage.
Yet the pressure to get everything right, showing people how much you love them by showering them with gifts they may or may not want and to push yourself at a time of year when nature is pulling back can lead to an exhausting and anti climatic time.
However you celebrate – take steps back when you can, change traditions and delegate jobs so one person doesn’t end up doing it all. Be inclusive not exclusive and pay attention to what makes you happy rather than attempt to socially fulfil meaningless goals attached to this time of year.
Learn to meditate, change a little bit of your routine and you will find yourself sparkling brighter than your fairy lights….. meditation truly is a gift that keeps giving.
