Meditate if you want to go …faster?

"Like all explorers, we are drawn to discover what's out there without knowing yet if we have the courage to face it."
- Pema Chödrön

I have been working on a project over the last two days and it has been fascinating, researching what people actually think themselves capable of and specifically acknowledging reponsibility.

As a teacher of meditation, something my students hear me say at regular intervals is ‘take action, take rest, take action, take rest’.

It is important that you take good rest through meditation and sleep so when we take action, be that getting to work on time, looking after elderly relatives, cooking healthy food, supporting your children, achieving a life-work balance; whatever actions you take, you are well rested and not permanently exhausted by everything life throws at you.

If you are in what seems to be a permanent state of exhaustion, if life’s rollercoaster doesn’t seem to have a stop button within your reach. How will you take responsibility of making the rollercoaster of life slow down so you can take breath?

Learning to meditate allows your system to rest 5-7 times deeper than sleep. This enables deep purification of the nervous system and that in turn releases stress and with less stress there is less uncertainty and doubt. Without out those, your desire to experience new situations grows and grows and you become more courageous in experimenting with your new found capabilities.

Truly taking care of yourself isn’t always so easy to do when you have a busy life. Make time to meditate and take time for you and life’s rollercoaster ride will become very enjoyable indeed!
